As with any building, transforming the Library building involves a lot of work that will go mostly unseen.
The interior structure has been completely stripped out, and now we are starting to rebuild.
Now that the interior is stripped back, we’re starting to see actual forward progress on structural work.
The first phases of construction are never pretty, and our Library on Kearsley Street is no exception!
Beginning August 6, patrons can visit the Annex, a secondary space at Courtland Center occupied by Flint Public Library.
Flint Public Library is beginning a limited re-opening at 11:00am on Thursday, July 23! Starting on this date, the Library will welcome patrons who want to browse and check out books or DVDs. Other services, such as computer access, will be added in later phases of the re-opening.
COVID-19 threw us a bit of a curve ball, but we have officially (and finally) moved out of the Library building! We handed the keys over to Clark Construction on June 15, and they are now hard at work on the renovation.
Our moving process has resumed, and that is great news! However, due to the COVID-19 delays, we are about eight weeks behind schedule.
Now that construction and packing/moving companies are open for business, we will resume the packing process the week of May 11. While we finish packing at Kearsley Street, Clark Construction will wrap up the work on our temporary location at Courtland Center.
