The interior structure has been completely stripped out, and now we are starting to rebuild. We are still in the structural phase of the work, with focus on building systems, walls, supports and windows. There are some exciting photos here, including a first look at the new Learning Stair and the Terrace!

Our heating and air conditioning systems were at the end of their useful life. It’s wonderful to see their replacements!
fpl__0002_Learning Stair Opening
The Learning Stair and Unconference Room were fan favorites when we shared plans for the transformed library. There’s now a huge opening in the second floor where these beautiful features will eventually be found!

New walls are starting to go up, and fireproofing material has been applied to the ceilings.

If you wondered how much of the Library’s interior was really going to be removed, this should give you the answer: all of it!
fpl__0004_New sewer pipes
We needed to update the sewer pipes for the building. Those have gone in, and are now covered with new concrete.
fpl__0007_Window removal
Old windows are coming out to make room for energy-efficient new ones.
fpl__0005_Terrace foundation
Super excited to see this hole in the ground! This is where our beautiful outdoor terrace will be located.
fpl__0001_Floor reinforcement
We are doing serious floor reinforcement so that we can cut the opening for the Learning Stair and carry all the new load.
